After finishing the theatre play „The Cursed Child“, a sequel to the Harry Potter series set nearly two decades after the last book of the Harry Potter installment ends, J.K. Rowling has announced that she is working on an new children’s book. It’t not her first book after finishing the Harry Potter Series. She has already written the Cormoran Strike detective series under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith, which will be adopted by BBC.
On November 2nd, 2015, J.K. Rowling was on BBC Radio 2’s breakfast show to give an interview and promote „Career Of Evil“, the third book of the series. There she said: “I have an idea for a children’s book, actually I have written part of a children’s book that I really love, so I’m definitely going to finish that. There will be another children’s book.” She hasn’t provided any details about the plot, publisher or release date: “I’m not going to give you an absolute date because things are busy.“ Writing screenplays and promoting her current books and events makes writing new books a challenge. “I sometimes worry I’ll die before I’ve written them all out. That’s my midlife crisis – that I will leave this earth without having written them all”, she said, before adding that she might even consider to continue writing about Harry Potter, since she had a lot of fun working on the „The Cursed Child“ which debuts in London next summer. She has always had ideas about what could have happened 19 years after the final installment of the Harry Potter series, which was published in 2007. But she never wanted to write „The Cursed Child“ as a novel „(…) for reasons I think will become clear when people see the play.“ In any way, the theatre play will be a success. 175.000 tickets where sold in only eight hours last Month.
